By looking at vBulletin.com/forum 3.5 preview, what ideas come to mind in regards to template modifications? I have a list (which I prefer to keep private for a few more days hehe) with 10 template modifications that I have planned. But curious if we all think alike. Just think outloud; no wrong answer :) because you haven't seen the code yet of course.

One idea that has been in my mind (but haven't worked it out yet) is redesign of the things showing below forums and forumdisplay and showthread. It looks a bit messy and I want to simplify it.

Another one is breadcrumb path in showthread; but that one already exists for version 2 & 3. So just needs to get updated.

There's quite a few template mods that I'll be reapplying to my forum, for instance, my members would skin me alive if the current custom postbit changed...... again. And theres a bunch of others too like the welcome message, the article forum and the private forums (they have their own custom look) etc.

I've released a few template mods on vbulletin.com and will do so later on this site too :) Enjoy! They're small, but they're fun to learn from.

By looking at vBulletin.com/forum 3.5 preview, what ideas come to mind in regards to template modifications?I find that, from the member view, the UI of 3.5 is not significantly different than 3.0x. There are a bunch things that I know I will change:

add link to parent message to postbit
remove the "add reply" buttons at the top and bottom of the threadbit
create a new button for quickreply--so people can tell what it is
rework the navbar/breadcrumb template so the navbar is on top
repeat the breadcrumb at the bottom of the threadbit page
add a newsflash--customizable by usergroup and browser platform--to forumhome
make forum stats, and some user stats (join date, post count) visible only to staff There are a few other things I want to do, but don't yet know how (or if) i can.

I plan on overhauling a lot of the templates myself, been meaning to for some tme. I like to see how things look while I am working on them, and while I have a lot of things already worked out in my head I know some of these ideas won't be doable or will require changing many other things.

I have been working on modifying my MEMBERINFO template.

People always are asking about some way to make it "myspace" like.

Althought I'm not sure how I'd tell other to do what I did. I'm about to add a few more things which will begain to turn it into an actual plugin, becuase I am going to add user comments and buddy icons.
