View Full Version : System Information User Selectable Postbit Dropdown Menu Mod
tigsman 22nd February 2004, 01:35 PM it is like that ?
" The Set Default option is set to 'Yes, but No First Blank Option'. "
your pic (screen1.jpg) says something else, thats the first thing that stands out to me.
tigsman 22nd February 2004, 01:42 PM it is like that ?
further, you show in pic screen4.jpg the if conditionals for each line using field5 thats wrong.
using your screen4.jpg pic as example, cpu should be: <if condition="$post[field2]"><tr><td class="vbmenu_option"><b>CPU:</b> $post[field2]</td></tr></if>
the next line both should be field3 and so on.
the if conditionals in pic #4(screen4.jpg) are to show each line if and only if there is something inputted into that individual field.
screen6.jpg which DOES use field5, as it should, is just to allow the user to turn on/off the display of the dropdown menu in its entirety.
tomshawk 1st March 2004, 06:28 AM Tigsman, I dont mean to bother you, and this may be impossible, but...
Is there a way to make this, so the menu items are clickable, like links to other pages of the site, or a seperate site.
I'm thinking of setting this up as a My Favorite links menu.
Do you think that would be possible?
tigsman 1st March 2004, 06:30 AM in theory, its possible, but not done very well
tomshawk 1st March 2004, 08:13 AM No prob, I talked to a couple of my more popular users and they said nobody would use it anyway, Kinda Security, but they love the idea of specs.
Now, to figure out, how to get it working :(
If you'd like to look

All I get is the Menu title. I'm reviewing this thread, to see if I get lucky
Thank again for a kewl hack ;)
tomshawk 1st March 2004, 08:34 AM I figured it out
For some reason, It didn't like having the "System Specs" dropdown and the other User "System Spec" profile sections on different pages.
Moved the Dropdown to the Extra Page, and all is well.
It works great.
Thank you agian for a kewl hack ;)
tigsman 1st March 2004, 08:57 AM np, although i still dont see it in use on ur site ;)
tomshawk 1st March 2004, 09:03 AM Well, It's a wierd one
I have the Postbit User Selectable option on my site as well.
When I change from one Postbit selection to the other to test it, it deletes my entries for the specs and changes the option for showing the specs to no.
not sure what that is all about. Ideas?
tigsman 1st March 2004, 09:07 AM nope....thats a new one on me. i too have it selectable in usercp for postibt layout and do no have this issue.
certainly it shouldnt remove the data from the table regardless of anything else.
unless you have a conditional backwards somewhere is only thing that comes to mind first hand, That would be the only way to swap 'selection to show' back to 'no'.

I guess the conditional thing is a possibility
I think i'm hitting the point of to many hacks on one site. I have about 35

maybe I'll play some more tomorrow

Sorry, I forgot to set the UserCP here to email me when I get new PM, and have been really busy lately.
Anyway, I had 2 problems, one of them is still not working right.
If I had the system specs dropdown and system specs user defines one different pages. The dropdown would not show up in the postbit_legacy like it is supposed to.
So, I moved the dropdown to the Extra_info page Which is another hack by Farnath. Once I put them all on the same page, all worked well in the Postbit_legacy.
Which leads me to my next problem. If, I change the postbit from legacy to regular, all of the info in the lines for system specs would disappear, and the dropdown would change itself to no, instead of yes like it was.
If I change it back to legacy, I would again have to reenable the system specs dropdown and add all of my info again.
That last problem is still there, I have not figured out that problem yet. Sorry!!
I hope I helped you with your question though. Remember If you use Farnath's Extra_info page hack, put all of the info on that page.
tigsman 10th March 2004, 12:58 PM Hmmm... i wish i worked wit hthat hack, but i dont. Otherwise i might be able to assist you. I put all my info in profile page and option to show on options page.
That issue seems like it wouldnt be fixed by looking at postbit template, but rather that hack. Perhaps contacting Faranth might help. Sorry
