Okay, now that you are finally done reading the whole name of this mod, here's the jist of it:

System Information User Selectable Postbit Dropdown Menu Mod

version 1.1 for Gamma version of vBulletin 3 (by Tigsman tigsman@amdmb.com)

**addendum added to explain [fieldxx] replacement**

DESCRIPTION: This mod, when properly configured, allows a forum member to display
information about their system right in their postbit rather than their signature
or profile. This provides a dropdown menu for the information in the user's
postbit and is turned off by default until the user turns it on in their profile.
Any line of added profile fields is default to not show if their is no info provided.
Translation, it is possible to have the user show the dropdown menu in their postbit
and there be no information in the menu.

DISCLAIMER: This template modification is written for vBulletin version 3 Gamma.
It will (probably) not work on lower or higher versions. Any of these files may not
be translated and may only be distributed by me through the following web site:
http://www.vBulletin.nl/ (I'll get to the others when I get a chance)

SUPPORT: My time is **VERY** (notice the tall letters) limited and so is the support.
I believe that this template modification shows in a few simple steps where to look for what and please try to
learn from that, so you can quickly adjust it to your own personal needs.

Demo: Not currently available

Feel free to add/edit this mod any way you wish. But give credits where its due.

credits as due to what helped me complete this mod:

insanctus: Add Another Drop Down On Nav
M1th: Hiding Some "Quick Links" From Guests
JoergZ: Help with proper format of a conditional to get it to work
floris: template for this text file

***If anyone can recall where I might have gotten the optional fix
at the bottom of the file, please let me know so I can give the
correct person credit for the fix.

Templates to mod: 1 to 4 templates (If using VB3/VB2 postbit switch mod, minimum is 2)

3 steps:

1. Create User Profile Fields (Minimum of two required)
2. Add Sysinfo Menu to postbit AND/OR postbit_legacy
3. Add System Specs to postbit AND/OR postbit_legacy (Only postbit_legacy example shown)

Optional fix for UserCP alignment at bottom of file.

Yup, it can be put to some great use for sure, I'll bet alot of gaming/RPG sites would love it.

as for credit, it was deserved, I never made one of these before and didnt have time to 'create' one from scratch, so some hacking of your file got me to put this up ASAP:)

did you put the template mods in step 2 and 3 into the postbit template or postbit_legacy template?

Did you create your addtional User Profile Fields in step 1?

I have visited your forums Cas, I do not see any new user profile fields created yet.

I did create new profile fields. Their on this page:
http://www.pikasurf.net/profile.php?do=extra

I did exactly what your instructions said and it still didn't work.

#1 Well, Im glad to see you have some extra profile fields but,

#2, I dont see where you might have created and completed step 1 part A, creating your first field that will allow the user to enable and disable the display of the added profile fields in their own postbit.

If that is not created, it will never display.

Why dont you attach a picture of your added profile fields from your admincp and a copy of your postbit (notice, I did not say postbit_legacy as you are not using it)

I'll see what we can do from there.

Sorry, Gomen, Merci for double posting. Or whatever word sorry is in your language.

I did exactly what the instructions said but it comes out like this. But i didn't add the optional fix.

Ahh.. lol. sorry... I didnt explain fully as I should.

whenever you see $post[fieldxx], xx should be replaced by the profile field # you are connecting to that information. for instance your step 2 pic, has $post[fieldx1] in it, this should be replaced byt the profile field # for that added profile field.

i'll add pics in sec so you understand what im saying.

hopefully these will make it easier for you to understand fieldx1 thru fieldx9 need to be changed.

Changing the post[fieldx1] to post[fieldxx] in the text file would help (and explaining to replace all xx with the field # might help). The fieldx1 threw me off for a sec, too. ;)

Nice work. This hack will useful, ;)

Sorry, this is my first mod worthy of being released, never did one before.

I'm still on a learning curve, I guess I took that part for granted ;)

No...no...no...I didn't mean anything by my post. I apologize if it sounded wrong. ;) I think this is a great hack and I expect to see a lot more great stuff from you. It was just a little advice. Whenever I try to make a hack (they're usually sucky, but hacks, none-the-less) I try to set it up for someone who might have never installed a hack before. That way, even someone that is totally new at installing hacks will be able to understand and follow everything. Does that make any sense? :) (Because it confused me, I'll tell you. ;))

I took your post as a helpful one, not a demeaning one, dont sweat it. For someone such as myself who has been doing pc support for the last 20 years, I shoulda known better ;)

Thanx :)
