View Full Version : forum rules update for warez posters
Boofo 29th December 2003, 07:58 PM What this template mod does:
This will add a box on the bottom of the forum rules announcing that you do not allow WAREZ of any kind on your site. I added it to my site so there will not be any questions or confusion on the subject of WAREZ.
This template mod was tested and works on version 3.0. Gamma.
Floris 29th December 2003, 08:08 PM Remember the word 'warez' will now help you get more users through google too! :D

Daniel P 29th December 2003, 09:55 PM nice mod boofo :D gr8 for giving pirates a shock :)
Boofo 30th December 2003, 12:18 AM The really sad thing about it is, I got the idea for it from a warez site a friend of mine used to run (in my earlier days of running a BBS, way before the Internet). He used to use something like this to scare away the feds who kept snooping around. Believe it or not, it sometimes worked! :D
surfhog 31st December 2003, 01:10 AM Nice idea and I hope nobody minds? But I used 2 modifications in one:
[vB3:G] Compact Forumrules
forum rules update for warez posters
Thus:
<center><table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="315">

<td class="thead" colspan="2">
<a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('forumrules')"><img id="collapseimg_forumrules" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_thead$vbcollapse[collapseimg_forumrules].gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>

That looks like my dancing mouse on my other site.
They have a hack on vb.org to make your own, you did know that, right?
Go ahead and let me know the specifics and I will check it out. ;)

Well, I see the Dancing mouse :D
I also see, at the moment the forums link does not work
I also see some interesting transition effects when going and coming from different pages, You've also got right-click disabled.
I also am a little curious, This seems to be a free site, so the fact that your pages are not useing the same layout and colors really doesn't matter to much, but Looking at your News Letter, you haven't updated in a while, Are you basically letting this site go?
So, Am I in the ball park of what you were asking? :p
Just curious, if you looked at my personnal site, I have nothing to brag about, ROFL ;) :D

I haven't updated the site for quite a while, as you saw. I am going to be completely re-doing it here in the next few weeks to set it up as a site that will host technical support for the Internet, with a large part of it going for cable settings for all of the major browsers and modems. The wife works for the local cable company in their Interent tech support division. The company doesn't provide books or any written material for any of the settings and alot of the problems she handles. I am setting up the site so she and others that work with her will have a place to go to get the information as they need it.
I sent an email to that site and told him that the mouse belonged to that site. I am waiting to hear from him and then will decide what I need to do if he doesn't comply.
The mouse is what I wanted you to see, though. That mouse has been up there since the site began. As you can tell, it's been up a while. ;)

very Kewl, From the sounds of it, Your wife and I are sort of in the same business.
I.T., that is :p
I'm a Network admin and set up alot of Cable and DSL for customers, well, OK, I'm a jack of All trades, Mostly Network Admin, Network Setup, Server installs and support, but you get the point.
Anyway, Good luck with the site, If you need any help, feel free to stop by my site, we have some pretty highly trained certified users, that may be able to answer some questions you may have as far as specs or anything else for that matter.

;)Basically it's just going to be a lot of taking screenshots for the different browsers and settings for the wife and fellow employees to have something to go by when they are helping customers. I put a book together for her with some stuff already (Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XPXP settings and screenshots) and everyone else there is kindof jealous, I guess. And since things are chnaging all the time, we figured this was a good way to try and keep up with it as much as we can. ;) And being I can use a database for a lot of the stuff, it will make it alot easier to add and chnage things as we need to.
I'll keep you posted on it and let you know when we start to have something. You can check it out and let me know what you think. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions or ideas, we'd enjoy hearing them. I'm afrreaid I bit off more than I could chew on this one, but it is the wife and she only deserves the best. ;) (Maybe I can make up the raw deal she got marrying me with this, you think? ;))
