Whatever happened with photopost and vb gallery, I don't really care that much: Sorry! Nothing personal.
What I do care about is their features, which features should be DEFAULT in ALL gallery scripts?
Number one: Proper and supported vBulletin Integration! (admin option)
Number two: Upload from HD and remote URL (user option)
Number three: Store files in filesystem or database (admin option)
Number four: An overview of uploaded images with means to sort & search through them (user option)
Can you name me more?

A shopping cart feature in case you want to sell your images. Via Paypal, Stormpay or some other processor. It can even have the ability to create an order form from which labs can use for print orders.
Why no one has thought of this (as far as a hack is concerned) is beyond me. :( I wish I knew how to program.

It is a good idea and I can only imagine that it is because not enough people have wanted it and that those who do have had a custom job done for them.
As a photographer such a system would be of great use to me. :)

I think its a great idea to allow you to link to pictures already hosted somewhere else (Remote URL as you said)
Also its nice if members can host their own gallery so it displays all of your pictures in a folder such as (Mark/Turblety's Personal Gallery) where inside you can manage your own subfolders/images/other people can submit.
Maybe its something wort looking into.

MarkI spent a fair bit of time on Flickr today, and all I can say is wow.
It is so good that I can't see why a forum would try and run it's own gallery. They would be better to have a Flickr section in their profile field, like the current Skype one, and then people can just go there.
Plus it will really save on your bandwidth too. :)
