Will a style meant for vbulletin work for IPB forums?

You can't use an IPB style on a vB installation directly; you'd have to manually make changes to the templates as well as update the image names and directories in order to do it.

IPB and vB call things by different names, IPB simply would not be able to use the vB templates unless you go through all of the and manually change all of the variable names (and probably some of the names of the templates too).

but i think the site which sell Vb templates and style also have the same styles available for the IPB boards also right? at the same price..?
