View Full Version : Change Styles On Any Page

What this does?
If you use multiple styles on your site, this will allow you users to change to the other styles by clicking a link you supply and be returned to the page they were viewing.

Download the attached .zip file and open the readme.txt file for instructions.

This is very easy to implement but I will be happy to provide support if needed.

Future:
Looking for a way to eliminate the additional .php file however $PHP_SELF does not work. If the style is changed from a forumdisplay page, the forumid is stripped from the query string. I am also going to work this so the styles can be selected from a drop down box and so you only need one .php filer regardless of the number of styles.

Enjoy,
Scott Z.

Maybe use phpinclude, rather then modifications to a file?

Each file has THIS_FILE set in them .. you can use that in a conditional ? (instead of $php_self)

If I have 3 sites that share the same forum does this mean that if i set up three styles for the forum (one corresponding to each site) and link to these styles from my main homepage it will look as though each site has its own forum with its own design ???

I don't know if this hack is made to do that, but with some source code hacking, I am sure it is possible to have a style based on a per URL. I am not aware that such a hack has been released yet.

I guess I know what you mean.

you want to click on that link, and the style option in user profile will be changed too, right?

if it's correct, I strongly recommend you NOT to do so. forum interface should not interfere with user profile. If you want to change style option, you should definitely go to UserCP and do that.

Changing $styleid value in URL only switch between styles. This value will be stored, and you will keep seeing the same style if you use the same computer.

If you still WANT to make the changes in user profile, you "could" do that. nothing is imposible. However, it will require changing code, and accessing the database.

good luck

I indeed think you can't do this with just template modding.
