I want to modify the forums listed on forumhome, to include buttons or links to [rss] and [new thread] or [whatever].

The easy way would be to list them below each other on the right of the forum title, but .. I don't want that :p

Help me brainstorm find a possible solution to display them in a more subtle way. or at least more organized.

I have my 'New Thread' and 'Get New Post' buttons on the right of the Forum's box, vertically centered.

What about a Dropdown link? 'Thread Tools' or something similar?

I don't think a template modification can cause extra queries.

Personally find the showthreads very stuffed and very crammed. A suggestion could be a collapsible zone for all displaying options, selectable via adminpanel to appear collapsed/uncollapsed but override by User CP to display it or not.

And make it admin selectable to display or not the forum rules (those table who appears at the lowest of the screen, just over the footer). Via an admin choose via Adm CP.

Don't know if could be possible, but worth the try.
