I think you should use it :) It is a great product and worth its money.

I have Photoshop 6 on my iMac which was put on there by the previous owner along with Premiere, which I have no idea what that is.

I prefer Paint Shop Pro 8, where all my features are in one place that I know where to look, and I've used it for years. Photoshop, I've only used for a few months. Quite confusing compared to PSP.

Paint Shop Pro 6 (not 7, not 8), forever. Until I hunt down a programmer willing enough to code me a version of Gimp that looks identical to PSP6, but with more features & stability.

Use it all the time :P, at least twice a day lol. Though I did not exactly pay for mine...;). Anyways, its worth it if you know how to use it, which i'm still learning how to.

using PSP most of the time (both 7 and 8)...and when i reeeeaaaaally have to, i open photoshop once in a while.

I'm studying communication & multimedia design, and most of my teachers (and students) think i'm crazy because of that :/

My guess is that PSP is quite underrated.

Paint Shop Pro is great too, I use it less then photoshop, because I am more familiar with photoshop now. I agree with mf, version 6 is the best PSP version :)

I'm going back to PSP. And IMHO, PSP7 is good too. I rapidly learned how to use it :)

i used to use PSP but it never really did it for me (maybe coz i was crap or something) but after switching to photoshop (was usign a nice trial at the time) and following a few tuts I realised how poor PSP really was IMO. My views might have changed now, but i know how to use PS and i'm not gonna change :)

See my work and judge how poor PSP is. There are few things I can't do in PSP that you can do in Photoshop. I have to agree the methods are often quite elaborate compared to the prefab plugins Photoshop has on offer, but imho prefab stuff ruins your imagination. Which is also a factor in why all photoshop kiddies all have identical looking graphics.

/me thinks of a good point to make............still tihnking

anyway, if you know how to use PSP to the max it may be better than PS, but the fact is getting as high quality things out of PSP is harder than with PS which is why not very many people use PS. You use PSP and you create great things, which shows what can be done with it. I might start looking at PSP again and see if i can get anywhere with it, but with now i'll sit with my PS and be a nice photoshop kiddie :)

Well yeah I have been using PSP6 for 5 years, so that could be considered cheating :). In any case its greatness doesn't really come from its possibilities, but rather its interface.
1) Toolbars aren't overlapping your images
2) Tool windows aren't fhuge, and they collapse into a single titlebar that you can hide with TAB
3) You can zoom in and out with the scrollwheel, and your zoom will zoom in on the area your mouse cursor hovers over, so you can be zoomed in at the location where you want within milliseconds without having to drag any scrollbars
4) When you zoom in or out, document windows automatically resize to accomodate the new size - this means you can have a screenful of one document, decide you want to work on anoter, zoom out your current to 1:10 size, hit the titlebar of the document you want to work on (which you zoomed out earlier to 1:10 to save space) and zoom back into 1:1 and work on it instantly.

Example of a busy workspace that you can work with in PSP without a sweat but would run shivers over your spine if you had to do it in Photoshop. (http://mf.onthanet.com/pspblahscr.png)

haha, omg, that's just plain chaos you have there (ok, sometimes my psp screen looks a bit like that too)

Nice thing about psp (don't know if ps does the same) is that you can move all toolbars to your 2nd monitor. Gives alot more space.

on PS the toolbars can float outside the rest of the window so i guess it must be possible

I use Photoshop only. I have never tried Paint Shop Pro though so I cannot make a comparison. But I can say that I absolutely love Photoshop. :)

I'd say that's a pretty neat one. This one (http://mf.onthanet.com/psp-scrshot.png) would more closely reflect a usual workspace. Or this one (http://mf.onthanet.com/vectorizing_rules_;p.png).

I chose never because I don't have it so I don't use it but I do want it. I currently use PSP7,8 and beta testing 9...

I use fireworks. I know the controls, and it is very easy to make web graphics with it. When I use my tablet, which I can't even find for a long time now - so I will have to buy a new one - I use PS, cause it really is great for tablet use.
